Altura Patterson Training Race Team 2008

The Team (left to right): Jenn O'Connor, Ruth Mordaunt, Andy Patterson, Simon Young

We’re pleased to finally announce our new team line-up for the 2008 season, with our two new riders and a host of team sponsors, both new and existing.

The first news is the change of team name. Altura produce all of our team kit as well as putting up the financial backing for the team, and this season we are Altura Patterson Training, and we’re really pleased to be working with them again. This means we get to test all their prototype gear too, which is a bonus!

The next big news is our two new team riders, Masters racers Ruth Mordaunt and Simon Young. Both are pretty new to competition, but they impressed us with great out-of-the-bag results last year and we’re supporting them with full coaching, kit and bikes for 2008. Expect to see some great racing in Masters this year! Profiles and pics of all the team riders are attached.

Andy will also continue to race at Masters level, and I’ll be hitting the elite races again this year, focusing again on top-level marathon and endurance events.

Continued support from Endorfin Handmade Bikes means the team will be racing on custom VP-4 full suspension bikes this year. Component sponsors include Tune, Hope, SRAM, Rock Shox, Crank Brothers and tyres from Panaracer. These are some serious race bikes. Add the latest Betty and Wilma lighting systems from Lupine and you’ve got serious all-day, all-night race rigs! We are spoiled, I know!

PowerBar are also back on board, and they’ve raised their game this year with a bunch of new bars, drinks and gels in new flavours and formulas, and we’re already munching our way through their stock.

New sponsors this year include Catlike Helmets, supplied by Prendas Ciclismo, and Adidas Eyewear, and I’m stoked to get these great brands on board. Also new this year is Fenwicks, who are launching a new range of lubes alongside their popular cleaners, which we’re already running through their paces.

Our first event of the season will be the Gran Canaria Open Marathon on March 8th, as part of a week-long team training camp, after which you’ll see us at all the British National Series rounds, British National Champs, Enduro 6, Mountain Mayhem, and a few international events including the UCI World Marathon Champs, UCI World Masters XC Champs, the Salzkammergut and as many other events as we can get to.

See you there!
